Where Do Our Panels Come From?

Sunly only uses top quality solar panels in our installations. We obtain our panels from Canadian Solar. Although some of the panels are produced in Canada at Canadian Solar’s Guelph Ontario facility, the demand is too high. Therefore, some of the panels are imported from overseas.

Panel Efficiency

We only use the best products in our solar installations, which is why we use Canadian Solar solar panels. These panels are top-of-the-line and the best out on the market currently.

Canadian Solar recently set a world record of 23.81% conversion efficiency for n-type large area multi-crystalline silicone solar cell. We provide nothing but the best service, which is why we use these revolutionary panels in our installations.

Is the Weather Good for Solar?

Nova Scotia is great for solar!

With an estimated 1,962 hours of sunshine per year, Nova Scotia is a perfect place to take advantage of solar energy!

What about the winter?

In Nova Scotia’s cold winter months, our solar panels are still able to work and produce energy!

Once activated by sunlight (high energy), a greater difference in voltage is attained. Heat creates resistance in a circuit but once that heat is removed, more energy can be produced. Most solar panels today use silicon as a semiconductor material. When photon particles in sunlight hit the solar panel photovoltaic cells, it causes movement in the electrons of the silicon. This, in turn, creates the electric current that is sent to the electric distribution box, supplying power. In cooler temperatures, the electrons in the silicon are at rest (low energy). Once activated by sunlight (high energy), a greater difference in voltage is attained. Heat creates resistance in a circuit but once that heat is removed, more energy can be produced. This makes them more efficient, leading to up to 20% more efficient solar production in colder temperatures.

At Sunly, we make sure to take into account the snow fall you may be hit with to keep your offset percentage accurate.
